Kadyrbek Sultakeev

Dr. Kadyrbek Sultakeev is a development economist with many years of experience in applied research and teaching. He currently works as an Assistant Professor at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) and is writing his second Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics funded by the Volkswagen Foundation (SUSADICA project, Grant Number 96264) at the Institute for Agricultural Policy and Market Research at the University of Giessen, Germany. Prior to that, Dr. Sultakeev worked as a researcher at the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University for nine years, where he received his first Ph.D. in Public Finance. He also had a year of research experience in the Institute of Development and Agricultural Economics at the University of Hannover, (Germany), funded by a DAAD research grant (Grant Number 57299291). Dr. Sultakeev was selected through a competitive process to conduct research with scientists at IFPRI’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., and conducted his short-term research there. In addition, he is a subject matter expert of the book “Common Sense Economics” by American economist James D. He is currently heading a research team for one of Winrock’s projects called “Climate Change Induced Migration in Central Asia”.
