AUCA’s Thomas Bussen, an assistant professor in the Business Administration department, has been awarded a CEU/HESP Faculty Development Fellowship. The Yehuda Elkana Center for Higher Education will host Thomas for the Spring semester of the 2017/18 Academic Year.

CEU’s Professor Liviu Matei will assist Thomas in a research project with the aim of completing a journal article shortly after completing the fellowship.

The fellowship winners are appointed on the basis of prior achievement and professional experience. «The School of Entrepreneurship and Business Administration is proud of Thomas and excited to see the results of his work at the CEU,» said Jayarethanam Sinniah Pillai, head of Business Administration department.

BIO

Thomas J Bussen moved to Kyrgyzstan in April, 2014. He arrived as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer, and after completing training in Kant, Chui Oblast, moved to Osh City. There he worked with a non-profit devoted to ethnic conflict resolution. He also provided business lectures at the universities around the country.

In January, 2016, Thomas moved from Osh to Bishkek and began work with AUCA. Thomas is now teaching Advanced International Business Law, Business Ethics, and International Dispute Resolution. While at AUCA, Thomas is completing research on the higher educational system of Kyrgyzstan and illicit payments.
