This course looks at ethics in the business context, the role of the enterprise in society, and the tools of social responsibility (CSR) in the capitalist system.  Topics covered will include, a review of different models of the role of the enterprise, corporate philanthropy, treatment of employees, the impact of the corporation on the environment, product safety, community engagement, and public policy.  With the help of video lectures and case studies, we will look at role model corporations, and discuss the risks and challenges of implementing a CSR program and measuring results.  The course will touch briefly on social entrepreneurship, and the ISO 26000 standard for CSR.
